About me
I began my journey in the '90s, starting with hands-on work in house renovations and baseboards. A friend in the tradeshow industry introduced me to building large stands for major brands, marking my first exposure to CAD drawings, which fascinated me, especially since I was used to pen sketches.
This experience naturally led me to the retail sector, where I spent years crafting high-end cabinetry for perfume concessions in renowned stores like Selfridges, Debenhams, and House of Fraser. My understanding of layouts opened doors to exciting projects, and my passion for CAD grew, prompting me to pursue AutoCAD certification through the City & Guilds program. This eventually led to my first Project Manager role, where I handled everything from drawings and parts to client interactions and site installations.
Within 18 months, I transitioned from PM to GM, overseeing a workshop of 20 people and managing new clients. This role empowered me to start my own company, focusing on drawing and documentation—a pioneering service in the industry. While it was well-received, burnout set in after six years, and I ultimately closed the doors.
During that time, I began experimenting with code, starting with Excel macros and quickly progressing to Access. Before long, I was developing tools rather than just databases, which led me to .Net. Around the same time, I switched from AutoCAD to Inventor, drawn by its API integration and superior design change capabilities. Fifteen years later, I’m proud to be a member of the Expert Elite group, recognized for my contributions to the community, and have worked on several large-scale projects that I hold dear.
